KIMBERLEY
The Kimberly Lapidary Club was formed during February 1964, through the efforts of Mr R. Erusmus and Dr S. W. van der Merwe. The Club at its inaugural meeting elected Dr S. W. van der Merwe as Chairman and Mr R. Erusmus as vice-chairman. A clubhouse was hired, machinery built and installed by the members and is still in operation today. New members are taught the elementaries of cutting and polishing in the workshop and may utilize the club at any time they wish. membership has remained constant at 35 to 40 members throughout the years. Great difficulty is experienced in organising field outing owing to the abundance of polishing material so close at hand. The club meets every second Monday of the month at the Scout Hall in Regiment Way
